A well stocked pro shop, and the Café and Grille and adjacent Echo's Lounge are situated next door - offering breakfast, lunch and dinner menus plus all the standard drinks and bar food. The pro shop/check in is conveniently located within a short walking distance from any of the rooms, and several natural grass practice greens are interspersed throughout the property. On course golfers will find that the Kirby marking system is in place, with yardages posted every 25 yards from 200-100 (250 on par fives). Pin placement sheets are provided, to indicate the day's hole locations.
Both courses are designed along mildly rolling topography, with spectacular mountain vistas. In fact, the valley is completely surrounded by hills and mountains, which provide a wind shield that helps create calm playing conditions. The Willow Glen layout presents more dramatic elevation changes and also has more fairways that are tightly tree-lined. In contrast the Oak Glen course is less hilly with generally more room for error off the tee.
The Oak Glen Course provides outstanding Southern California mountain views along tree lined fairways that wind through the Dehesa Valley. With a relatively flat terrain, this course is ideally suited to those who prefer to walk. Water comes to play on 5 holes, and 36 sand bunkers are strategically situated along the fairways or greenside. There are partial cart paths which means golfers on carts can generally drive right to their ball.
Oak Glen provides 4 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6668 yards/130 slope, 6489 yards/128 slope, 6044 yards/123 slope and 5549 with a slope of 124 for women playing from the forward tees. Like Willow Glen, the bent grass putting surfaces are mildly sloped and are kept in great shape. There are some very interesting stretches on this course. Our favorite was the hole 5 through 7 sequence - a dogleg left par four over a wash, a par three from an elevated tee and a short par four that plays over a group of cottonwoods with the tee shot partially blind.
The Oak Glen is a nice complement to the more popular Willow Glen - great scenery, a good variety of shot selections and wonderful conditioning. This is a fine resort golf experience. For more info, visit our page for the course by clicking here, or for a direct link to their website - click here.
