San Luis Rey Downs golf course is the centerpiece of the resort property which features accommodations at 2 condos plus 26 hotel style guest rooms, each with updated features that include Simmons Beauty Rest mattresses and private balconies or patios. There is a heated outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, plus tennis courts, a restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and banquet facilities as well. The golf course begins from an elevated tee on the first hole and finishes with a memorable par five, with holes in-between that feature a fairly level terrain highlighted by the presence of mature eucalyptus trees in the river valley. This is a shot-makers course, which demands strategic positioning from tee to green, and with frequent doglegs and hazards that await offline shots.
Deep greenside bunkers, tight fairways and water hazards combine to make this an interesting resort-golf experience that can be enjoyed by all levels of players. In total there are 48 sand bunkers situated greenside or near the landing zones on the fairways, and water hazards come into play on 9 holes.
The course is marked with 100, 150 and 200 yard blocks measured to the center of the green on all par fours and fives, and color coded flags indicate the day's front, middle or back hole locations. There are 3 sets of tees that play to distances and slopes measuring 6750 yards/136 slope, 6365 yards/132 slope and 5493 yards with a slope of 124 from the front tees.
On property is a full practice facility with grass range, short game area with sand bunker and two putting greens. Banquet and meeting rooms can accommodate up to 130 guests, and the restaurant and sports pub are situated adjacent to the pro shop.
