San Diego golf course review

Crossings_0080

Designed by Greg Nash, The Crossings at Carlsbad is an 18-hole championship municipal golf course and event facility that offers visitors a magnificent setting in a relaxed California Coastal environment, with beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean to the West and foothills rising to the East. The name is derived from the five bridges or crossings that have been designed into the layout, situated among the natural habitat and wildlife on more than 400 acres of Carlsbad's coastal terrain.

The design team took the natural elements and environmental concerns into special consideration, making this an eco-friendly golf experience. Golfers will generous, manicured fairways with numerous pin placement options and 5 separate tee boexes on each hole. The tips play to 6835 yards with a 132 slope for men and 147 for women. Remaining sets play to distances and slopes measuring 6147 yards/129 slope for men and 141 for women, 6020 yards/125 slope for men and 135 for women, 5685 yards/ 118 slope for men and 133 for women, and 5100 yards with a slope of 109 for men and 120 for women.

There are 60 soft sand bunkers situated near the landing zones off the fairways or strategically located greenside. Water comes into play on just 3 holes, but there are several crevices/canyons that one has to cross. GPS provides valuable diagrams and course info, and you will also see signs near the cart paths, that provide distances to reach or carry the many arroyos that help define the challenge of the Crossings. Golfers will encounter a variety in terrain, great conditioning, and wonderfully scenic vistas throughout the round. There are some extremely elevated tee areas, with considerable drops from the tees to the landing zone on the fairways.
